Lahey Clinic: A Blast From the Past
Do you remember when nurses wore little white hats, chunky white shoes, and perfectly starched uniforms? It wasn't that long ago. My, how times have changed! A scene like this is probably what you would have seen if you visited Lahey Clinic back on 1964. Of course, we were located on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston back then. That's nurse Joan MacArthur of Marshfield, MA there in the middle. She was a nurse in the Hematology Department at Lahey Clinic in Boston.

Miracles Can Happen
I took her for a consult at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA with the head of urology and we both fell in love with him. Dr. David Canes can’t be 40 and yet his specialty is minimally invasive endeurological procedures. We both agreed he was the handsomest man on the face of this earth, along with a gentle bedside manner.

Lahey Clinic and Northeast Health System Create New Affiliation
Lahey Clinic is honored to announce that Northeast Health System (NHS) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to form a new corporation with Lahey Clinic.
This is exceptional news for our respective organizations, and the shared communities and patients we serve. Northeast and Lahey combined have been serving the North Shore communities for over a century. Lahey Clinic Nurse Honored with DAISY Award
A big congratulations to Lahey Clinic’s Susan Green-Steinbauer, RN. Susan is the well deserved recipient of the distinguished DAISY award, which recognizes extraordinary nurses.
Susan was totally surprised by this honor, and quite emotional by the outpouring of support on her behalf. On hand for today’s reception was Dr. John Stoffel, who nominated Susan for the DAISY, and Dr. Howard Grant, President & CEO of Lahey Clinic.

Surprising COPD Stat
Did you know that only 20% of active smokers develop COPD?
However, you shouldn’t use that stat as an excuse to keep smoking! Remember, smoking puts you at risk for various cancers, heart disease, stroke, and even infertility and impotence.
The only sure way to know if you have COPD is to take a simple breathing test called spirometry. Most primary care offices have these devices. If you are a smoker and have never been tested, ASK!
